Doris Bitz is the new VP of beverages at Pepsi-QTG Canada of Toronto. She joined the company in 2002 as director of marketing. Her responsibilities will include all marketing and innovation for Tropicana and Gatorade. Meanwhile, Kevin Lake has become marketing director for Tropicana. He was previously Pepsi-QTG’s category marketing manager, innovation.

Toronto-based Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment has named Tom Anselmi EVP/COO. He was previously SVP of business and chief marketing officer. As well, Beth Robertson has been promoted to VP of marketing and Dave Hopkinson has been promoted to VP of corporate sales and service.

The Brick Warehouse Corporation, of Edmonton, has named R.K. (Kim) Yost as president and CEO. Focusing on product development and marketing initiatives with the Brick for the last seven years, Yost was appointed president in 2000.

John K. Sheppard is the new CEO for Cott Corporation, in Toronto. He joined Cott in 2002 as president of the U.S. business unit. Prior to that, Sheppard held a variety of executive positions at Coca Cola, including sales and marketing.

J. David Garner has been appointed president and CEO of health and dental benefits specialist Green Shield Canada. Operating out of the Toronto office, he will be responsible for developing corporate strategy. Previously EVP and COO, Garner was VP, sales and marketing from 1990 to 1994.

Toronto-based Woodbine Entertainment Group has promoted Yvonne Woodcock to marketing manager. Previously, she was marketing co-ordinator.

Brian E. Frank has been appointed president and CEO of BP Canada Energy Company of Calgary. He succeeds Dennis Roemmich, who has retired. Frank began with the company as VP, finance and regulatory in 1995. This marks the first time BP Canada Energy Company has hired a Canadian as president and CEO.

AGENCIES

At Cossette Communication Group in Toronto, Goodwin Gibson enters the newly created position of SVP, retail and direct marketing services. Taking over Gibson’s previous position of VP and GM of Blitz Toronto is Laurene Cihosky. Also at Blitz, the new senior director, promotions, is Fran Doiron and Rosie Gentile is group account director.

Doug Lowe becomes SVP/GM creative production services at Cossette Communication-Marketing and Nadia Duriavig is now group account director at Cossette Interactive.

TBWAToronto has two new CDs in Simon Creet and Simon Duffy. The two Simons first joined the company three years ago as a senior creative team before becoming associate CDs two years later. They replace James Spence who left to direct.

Toronto-based FCB Direct has added two new creatives to its team. Ray Smith has been hired as senior copywriter with Niki Lirantzis as art director. Both will be working on the Direct Energy and CIBC accounts.
