ACA Gold Medal 2016 Call for nominations

Winner to be honoured at the Marketing Awards

The Association of Canadian Advertisers has released its call for nominations for the 2016 ACA Gold Medal award.

The Gold Medal recognizes an outstanding member of the Canadian advertising industry ever year, and has done so since 1941. As has been the tradition during the past few years, the ACA will again present this year’s winner at the 2016 Marketing Awards gala, happening June 2 in Toronto.

Applicants have until April 8, 2016, to submit nominations for this year’s Gold Medal award.

“Throughout its 75-year history, the ACA Gold Medal Award has been presented to a rich and diverse group of leaders in our industry,” said Ron Lund, president and CEO of the ACA, in a release. “I am excited to begin the process of adding another name to this illustrious list of past recipients.”

In 2015, the ACA awarded Taxi founder Paul Lavoie with its Gold Medal, citing numerous achievements throughout his 30-year career in the marketing and communications industry. Lavoie currently acts as Taxi’s chairman and chief creative officer, and is also the youngest person to have ever been inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends.

Past recipients of the Gold Medal include former Tim Hortons chief brand and marketing officer Bill Moir (the 2014 recipient), legendary media planner Sunni Boot (1998), agency founder Claude Cossette (1988), Montreal mayor Jean Drapeau (1967), DDB Canada chairman and CEO Frank Palmer (2003) and Group of Seven member A.J. Casson (1953).
