The Association of Canadian Advertisers (ACA) has opened nominations for its Gold Medal Award, an honour bestowed on individuals who make outstanding achievements in marketing communications.
Past recipients include Zenith Optimedia’s Sunni Boot, Vision 7’s Claude Lessard, DDB’s Frank Palmer and Hugh Dow (formerly chairman of Mediabrands Canada, now retired).
Since its inception in 1941, the Gold Medal “has stood for the highest level of achievement in Canadian marketing,” said Ron Lund, president and CEO of the ACA, in a statement. “With their passion, commitment and leadership, each honoree has left an indelible mark on an industry they have served with utmost distinction.”
Nominations, which must be received by April 13, are open to individuals who, through a single achievement or life-long effort, have made a ” a measurable, distinctive advancement in the practice of marketing communications in Canada.”
The medal will be presented at the 90th annual Marketing Awards on June 8 at Toronto’s historic Carlu.
“The Marketing Awards, with their long tradition of celebrating excellence in Canadian marketing creativity, provide an ideal platform to present this year’s ACA Gold Medal Award,” said Lund. “We are proud to partner with Marketing to showcase the very best our industry has to offer.”
“The ACA Gold Medal Awards has been in hiatus for a few years so we are very excited to provide the ACA a platform to bring it back in a big way,” said Lucy Collin, publisher of Marketing. The Gold Medal was last awarded in 2005 to Nestle’s Ed Marra.
