Dozens signed up for the chance to take part in the fifth edition of Agency Wars. Over several weeks, they tested their mettle against professional coaches, strict trainers and their own physical limitations. Twenty four of those brave souls have been chosen to enter the ring at Toronto’s Arcadian Court on Nov. 26.
Marketing is profiling the men and women who’ve shed blood, sweat and tears for Ronald McDonald House and NABS. What makes someone step in the ring? Meet the fighters for the Red and Blue teams to find out.

Why did you decide to take part?
I’ve always loved boxing and I used to incorporate it in my workouts as cardio. When I first was introduced to Agency Wars I thought it’d be a great way to actually learn some real boxing skills in a competitive environment. This might be my one and only chance to ever be in the ring, so that’s pretty exciting.
Have you ever done anything like this before (boxing, fighting)?
Nope. Like I said, I used to do a bit of boxing as part of my cardio workouts, but never took it this seriously. You should’ve seen my “technique” before. It was all over the place!
What do you like about it?
Speed, strength, focus and resistance. It takes a lot to have your mind and body work together and apply all of those things.
What’s the toughest part of training?
I think the toughest part is what happens outside of training. I’ve never trained this hard in my adult life. I’ve never given up my social life for this long. After training you’re too exhausted to do anything but stay home and relax, and even when you do feel like going out there’s dietary restrictions to follow (no drinking!). Needless to say I’m not the most sought after girl among my friends right now.
What have you picked for your walkout song? And how is it representative of who you are as a fighter?
It’s probably going to be some Reggaetton – I’m the only latin person on this team and it’d be my way to associate myself with the fearsome Latin-American fighters! But I make no promises, still looking for my tune.
What message do you have for your opponent?
Ah, my very dear Jaime. The girl with the sweetest smile. I won’t enjoy the boos I’ll get from kicking the ass of such a sweet person, but I can’t deny I’ll enjoy the victory. Sorry girl! Drinks on the loser after? Bring cash!
Jaime Lipowitz – Blue Team
Job Title: Account Manager
Agency: Ideon Media
Nickname: J-Poww
Why did you decide to take part?
Friends of mine participated last year and raved about the experience. After a hard summer, I decided to focus on me and this seemed like a great way to do that.
Have you ever done anything like this before (boxing, fighting)?
Not officially, but I grew up with boys so you gotta be able to defend yourself.
What do you like about it?
It literally makes you feel like you can accomplish anything you set your mind to – and you feel like a badass when you land a great punch.
What’s the toughest part of training?
Hill runs, definitely.
What have you picked for your walkout song? And how is it representative of who you are as a fighter?
Flexin and Finessin by Iggy Azalea. The song is all attitude – enough said.
What message do you have for your opponent?
Sorry for messing up your face.
