Founder to lead a spinoff called Gallop Labs

alkarimAlkarim Nasser is stepping down as managing partner of BNotions, the Toronto-based development firm he founded.

Moving forward, Nasser will focus his time on his position as co-founder and head of product for Gallop Labs, a data science company that started as a service offered to BNotions clients.

Gallop Labs was incubated within BNotions and has been spun off as its own company. It started as a service to help clients grow the user base of their apps, but Nasser and his team now see a larger opportunity within mobile marketing that Gallop Labs can take advantage of.

The new company studies in-app behaviour and uses data science to help brands and publishers find their best users and monetize them. It currently has offices in both Toronto and New York and recently won a global Facebook innovation award for its targeting solution.

Nasser continues in his role as the chair of BNotions’ board, while partner Paul Crowe, who has been with the company since 2011, will assume the role of managing partner. In a release, Nasser said, “Paul Crowe is a visionary leader whose ideas and passion have already shaped the BNotions team and business. I know he and the team will continue to do amazing things.”

Nasser, selected as one of Marketing‘s Top 30 Under 30 in 2012, founded BNotions in 2008. At that time, it was a four-person development shop. Today it has more than 50 employees and an impressive client list that includes TD, Indigo and The Score.
