Toronto-based Argyle Communications has launched a new subsidiary, Argyle Brand Counsel + Design. ABC + D combines branding, design, communications and public relations services.

While many PR firms are expanding with creative services, Argyle CEO Daniel Tisch, who now also serves as chairman of ABC+D, believes branding is increasingly crucial in integrated communications.

“The core challenge of marketing and communications is changing due to the unprecedented communications power that’s now in the hands of ordinary people,” said Tisch. “We see a natural extension between what we do, which is all about building relationships with audiences and stakeholders, and services that look at the health of a brand… But we’re really taking a relationship-oriented focus on branding.”

That means clients will receive brand counsel from specialists “who truly understand how to earn attention, build trust and strengthen relationships,” said Tisch.

ABC + D will be led by president Jean-Pierre Veilleux, a veteran creative strategist who has worked as an advisor for Argyle Communications for the past four years. He was previously VP, brand communications and design at Publicis Brand Design in Toronto, and also ran his own design agency.

“We’ve been doing a lot of work together and it’s built into a strong partnership,” said Tisch. “We see an opportunity to bring [his expertise] more wholly and permanently into the Argyle family.”
