Argyle Communications opens Ottawa practice

Veteran political advisor Chris Hilton will lead the team

Toronto-based Argyle Communications has opened a federal public affairs practice in Ottawa. The communications firm, which does extensive work in government communications, plans to deepen its activities in the nation’s capital.

“We’ve had great success serving national clients from [our Toronto office], but Ottawa is unique because it is fundamentally a government town and you need a presence there to be competitive in that market,” said Argyle CEO Daniel Tisch.

“That’s how you build the relationships you need to build, that’s how you keep your ear close to the ground, and that’s how you’re able to best understand how to navigate your way through the complex and challenging public sector landscape.”

The Ottawa practice will be led by veteran political advisor Chris Hilton, who was most recently director of ENSight Canada, an Ottawa-based government relations and communications firm. Prior to that, he was senior manager public affairs – government relations at Canadian Red Cross, and has held a number of roles in the Government of Canada, including director of communications.

“Getting into federal public affairs is important for any organization that is touched by public policy, legislation or regulation,” said Tisch. “I think that’s an exciting opportunity for clients and therefore for us.”
