Art Gallery of Ontario names Cundari AOR

Agency tasked with providing ad support for three major exhibitions

Following a competitive review, Cundari has been appointed agency of record for the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).

The Toronto agency is tasked with developing and executing a new brand umbrella campaign for the gallery, and will provide advertising support for three major exhibitions. Cundari will also develop the AGO’s paid digital, non-digital advertising and marketing communication strategies.

The multi-year contract will also see Cundari Media Trust take lead on planning and buying.

Aldo Cundari, chairman and CEO of Cundari, said the shop’s experience in the arts and culture space, (past and current clients include the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto Zoo and Waterfront Toronto) make it a good fit for the AGO, which is looking to position itself as a go-to destination for both locals and out-of-town visitors.

“We have a longstanding passion for the arts and in-depth expertise in developing iconic brands for cultural institutions,” Cundari said in a statement. “We are thrilled to begin working with the Art Gallery of Ontario and help them shape and tell their unique brand story.”

The agency has been on a hiring spree of late as a result of new business wins. It bolstered its creative team with five new hires including Jonathan Smith  as group creative director. The agency will be announcing additional account wins in the coming weeks.
