B.C. Hydro has sent out a request for supplier qualifications in preparation for an account review in October.
The crown corporation, which has an advertising budget that tends to fluctuate between $8 and $10 million annually for power-smart programs, public safety and operations, is looking for an agency to provide “strategic planning, brand development and stewardship, creative development, production, media, research and client management.”
According to an industry source who saw the request document, B.C. Hydro notes that it has a “strong brand already” and that the review is not meant to imply that they are unhappy with their current agency DDB Canada.
B.C. Crown Corporations are required to go through agency reviews on a regular basis. DDB has held the since 2006, winning it from Cossette.
