The Media Innovation Awards are about finding the country’s best strategic media thinking and Marketing is thrilled to have found two of the country’s best strategic media thinkers to lead the charge in 2013.

Jake Norman, president and chief strategic officer of Mindshare in Toronto, and Hope Bagozzi, director of national marketing at McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada, will serve as co-chiars for the 2013 MIAs.

“We’re thrilled to have Hope and Jake on board for this year’s MIAs,” said Marketing publisher Lucy Collin.

“Jake made invaluable contributions on the 2012 MIAs jury and is a highly respected leader at one of Canada’s top media shops, while Hope was one of the leaders behind one of 2012’s best marketer and media stories, ‘Our Food. Your Questions.’”

Bagozzi and Norman have been put to work already, reviewing the MIAs categories from 2012 as well as those from other leading awards shows to determine what, if any, changes should be made for 2013.

They’ve also been working their networks and scanning the industry for other media big thinkers to join their jury. The call for entries will go out next week. Click here to review the winners list from 2012.

“I believe award shows such as this are great sources of inspiration,” says Bagozzi. “The work showcased motivates us all to be better, do more, think differently and it’s important to recognize and reward those that demonstrate this ingenuity, and inspire more of it in Canada.”

“I am very excited to join Hope as a co-chair to celebrate great Canadian media work,” says Norman. “Media is more complex than ever before, but this complexity creates opportunity to be brave and for smart thinking to turn media into a competitive advantage that delivers business results.”

The MIAs call for entries opens July 15 and closes Aug. 15, 2013.
