Bell Media launches a Fantastic…promo

Media conglomerate in the midst of a multi-channel push for Harry Potter spin-off

Bell Media has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures Canada on an extensive multi-platform campaign to promote the new film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The campaign, which launched Oct. 11 and runs through the film’s Nov. 18 release, is running across a variety of Bell Media properties including eTalk, Your Morning and Innerspace, as well as the Much, E! and CP24 channels. Other partners include Much Digital Studios and iHeartRadio Canada (the film’s exclusive radio partner).

One of the campaign centrepieces is eTalk’s “Fantastic Fan Competition” to find the movie’s biggest fan that is being promoted across the various Bell Media properties.

The contest culminates with two semi-finalists appearing on eTalk for a trivia showdown, with the winner attending a Toronto press event that includes a cast meet-and-greet.

ETalk personality Devon Soltendieck will also sit down with Fantastic Beasts…director David Yates as well as star Eddie Redmayne and other cast members in front of a live studio audience for a 30-minute special called ETalk Presents: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The show premieres on CTV at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18.

ETalk and Innerspace hosts will also dress up as Fantastic Beasts… characters for Halloween segments, while Soltendieck’s cast interviews will be featured on Your Morning.

A video created by Much Digital Studios personality RaynMagic inspired by the film is currently available on his creator page at Much.com and on his YouTube channel. The two-minute video features Toronto-born YouTuber pranking people with a giant claw that pops out of a Fantastic Beasts…inspired suitcase.

As the film’s official radio sponsor, iHeartRadio Canada stations including Virgin Radio stations in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax, as well as CHUM FM, QM FM, Rouge FM, CIOO and Majic 100, will promote the film through on-air, online and on-site giveaways. CHUM is also giving away a pair of tickets to the film’s premiere in New York.

Finally, Bell Media’s creative agency has created a special Snapchat filter that will be used by eTalk, Much, E! and Innerspace hosts on premiere day.

Bell has a longstanding relationship with Warner Bros. Pictures Canada that includes multi-platform promotional efforts for films including Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Hobbit series.
