Six months after its launch in Canada, Cummins & Partners has added a new creative duo to its executive ranks.
Cam Boyd and Troy McGuinness join the agency as partners and co-executive creative directors, effective Oct. 28.
Boyd and McGuinness join via Traffik, where they jointly held the vice-president, executive creative director role. The creative duo have also worked together at Taxi and MacLaren McCann.
They join Canadian president Dave Carey, client services vice-president Cheryl Gosling and founder Sean Cummins as partners in the Toronto office. Andrew Shortt, a partner and ECD at launch, left the agency in August, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Of the hires, Carey said, “Cummins around the world is a creatively-led company. We wanted to make an impact in Toronto and hire one of the best teams in Canada. We wanted to up our creative game.”
Carey added he’d been impressed both by the team’s creative work for Xbox and by their leadership at Traffik, where Boyd and McGuinness helped grow the creative department at an agency that was rooted in shopper marketing.
In a joint statement to Marketing, Boyd and McGuinness said they felt a creative kinship with Cummins & Partners founder Sean Cummins and were eager to start something new in Toronto.
“We have, as a team, wanted to be inventive with our careers and go where we will do the most inventive work,” they said. “This is a chance to build new philosophies and POVs in the Canadian market.”
The two added that they’re eager to grow the creative team at the agency and influence its culture. “Although we love doing the work ourselves, over the past number of years we have relished the opportunity to be mentors and coaches to a department and entire agency,” they said.
“We believe building a great culture and great creative work go hand in hand and we are looking forward to developing both. And that will probably include a pretty awesome in agency record collection.”
Cummins & Partners launched in April with a roster of clients such as Heidi Klum Intimates, Perrier-Jouët and VDKA6100. Since then, it has won several new clients including 411.ca, Ceridian, Nando’s, Warner Brothers and a North American AOR status for Zenbanx.
