Claude Carrier, vice-president of Bos, has been named chair of the Institute of Communication Agencies’ (ICA) 2011 board of directors.
Carrier, who has overseen the ICA’s Advertising Week since its inception in 2009, takes over from Jim Kabrajee, president of Marshall Fenn Communications. Kabrajee, in turn, was made chair of the ICA’s board of governors, a larger body created last year to provide strategic guidance to the board of directors, which directly manages the ICA’s programs and events.
“This year’s board [of directors] represents the ever-evolving diversity of the industry and is a collection of some of the most talented leaders from the communications industry in the country,” Carrier said in a release. “As the face of the industry both internationally and domestically, our goal is to generate greater involvement, communication and relationship building for our members and continue to move the ICA into new and exciting territory,”
Joining Carrier at the head of the table will be Laurie Young, managing director of Ogilvy & Mather, who was named vice-chair and treasurer of the board of directors.
The 2011 director’s board will have two new faces as well. Andrew Bruce, president of Publicis Canada, has been named vice-chair of Advertising Week, and JWT’s managing director David Gibb will chair the 2012 Cassies. (Both were named to the board of governors last year.)
The remaining seats at the directors’ table will be filled by Alan Gee from Blammo (formerly GJP Advertising), Bob Shropshire of Dentsu Canada, Doug Conn of Wasserman & Partners Advertising, Garry Lee of Cundari, Philip George of TBWAToronto, as well as Gillan Graham and Jani Yates, both of the ICA.
