Clear Channel Canada plans to open an Edmonton office this fall to support the city’s new transit shelter contract, a 10-year contract that formally begins Jan. 1.
Edmonton is the country’s sixth largest market, with population growth of 14% over the past five years, according to Clear Channel.
An estimated 76.1% of Edmonton residents now drive to work, while 16.4% take public transit – which Clear Channel says makes bus shelters a “prized addition” to its existing street furniture portfolio.
“Bus shelters have a high impact and frequency, allowing advertisers to reach consumers at multiple touch points throughout their daily lives,” says the out-of-home advertising company in an announcement regarding the win.
Clear Channel also operates the Ottawa street furniture contract, which includes more than 1,100 shelters as well as posters along the Sparks Street pedestrian mall.
The company’s extensive – and growing – media portfolio also includes Toronto’s Yonge Dundas Square and Union Station, as well as a six-airport network that includes Toronto, Edmonton and Fredericton and covers an estimated 47% of Canadian passenger traffic.
