Crispin Porter + Bogusky Toronto has hired creative director Sean Ganann.
Ganann joins the CP+B ranks from Zulu Alpha Kilo, having previously spent time at Campfire and Anomaly in New York. He also previously headed up Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney’s digital creative and was executive creative director at interactive agency NetX in Australia.
Michael Murray, vice-president and executive creative director of CP+B, heralds Ganann as a master of all media and the answer to clients’ increasingly broad-spectrum media needs.
“Sean has an amazing track record both internationally and in Canada and the U.S. He has extensive digital experience, but he actually crosses boundaries between the digital and traditional worlds,” said Murray.
Together with Murray, Ganann will be overseeing all of the agency’s accounts. “As we’re growing, we needed to add different skill sets,” Murray added.
“We’re shoring up our leadership team with Michael and Sean. We handle everything from tourism and industry association work, as long as it’s an interesting business problem to solve with a creative challenge,” said Subtej Nijjar, president of CP+B Canada.
Nijjar said that Ganann is a new hire, not a replacement, for the agency’s creative ranks. CP+B Toronto currently has 74 staffers (an uptick from April when it was reported to have 50, following a round of layoffs that included creative director Darren Richardson)
“We have recently won several new accounts which will require new hires in the near future. It’s just great to have someone of Sean’s calibre and great for the industry to have him back in Canada.”
Nijjar and Ganann previously worked together at Ogilvy Toronto.
CP+B has gone through several account upheavals and major personnel changes recently. Alongside a major front office shuffle that saw longtime leaders Shelley Brown and Aaron Starkman depart, the agency lost its agency of record status with Molson Canadian and Dare Foods.
