The 2011 Crystal Award winners were recently announced at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. Gold, silver, and bronze Crystal awards were presented in 10 categories, as well as the coveted Platinum Crystal award.

The Crystals recognize the achievements of Canadian radio creative, and the grand prize for the ‘Best in Show’ Platinum Crystal winner is $10,000.

This year, that prize went to Rethink for its spot “Anonymous,” which was created for the Children of the Street Society. The spot features voices that morph from an adolescent to an adult and warn child predators that officers are anonymously monitoring online conversations.

The creative has been submitted to the granddaddy industry award shows, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Rethink also won the Gold Crystal in the Agency Single category for the same spot.

With more than 400 entries from across Canada, the 2011 Crystal Awards committee had its work cut out for the selection process.

The other nine Gold Crystals presented were:

• Walk Without Fear Foundation and Juniper Park, in the Public Service Announcement category

• McDonald’s and Cossette Communication, in the Creative Use of Sound/Music category

• Patafie’s and CHUM Radio Ottawa, in the Performance category

• Newstalk 1010 and Astral Radio Toronto, in the Station Promotion (Single) category

• AM640’s The Stafford Show and Corus Radio Toronto, in the Station Promotion (Campaign) category

• Blaskin & Lane and Corus Radio Calgary, in the Station Single category

• Mississauga Toyota and Rogers Radio Toronto, in the Station Campaign category

• Showgirls Exotic Nightclub and CKYX Rock 97.9, in the Best Entry From A Small Market category

• Nuderm and Dory Advertising, in the Agency Campaign category

Astral RadioPlus, Canadian Broadcast Sales, CHUM Radio Sales and Target Broadcast Sales presented the awards.
