David Weinstein departs Strategic Objectives

After 25 years, PR veteran goes it alone with new communications consultancy

David Weinstein has left Strategic Objectives after 25 years with the award-winning PR firm.

Weinstein, who was director of media relations, has started his own communications consultancy, David Weinstein Communications. In January, he began a new role teaching media relations at Toronto’s Centennial College.

“It was time for a new challenge,” said Weinstein. “It ran its course.”

While his consultancy is still in its infancy, Weinstein said interest has been pouring in. “A lot of organizations have communications or marketing departments that can write media materials, but they just don’t have the contacts, know-how, or ability to outreach to the media,” he said.

“And I think this is the need that David Weinstein Communications can solve… Companies that may not be able to support the budget requirements of an agency can have access to the best media relations and public relations representation.”

“David is a master at what he does,” said Deborah Weinstein, president of Strategic Objectives (and David’s sister). “He certainly gave us 25 fabulous years… I totally respect his desire to move on and do his own thing.”

Deborah Weinstein said the agency won’t be hiring another director of media relations. The responsibilities have been spread out to other staff members.
