Deb McCain Communications announces multiple account wins

Australian fast fashion brand Ever New, which made its North American debut in Toronto last year, has chosen Deb McCain Communications as its public relations agency of record.

Ever New, which launched its flagship Eaton Centre location last August and has since expanded with four stores in B.C., initially gave Deb McCain a three-month mandate.

With Ever New planning further growth in Canada, Deb McCain has now been given a one-year mandate as AOR.

The five-employee agency is doing overall PR and communication services management for the retailer, says agency principal Deb McCain.

Fashion personality Jeanne Beker has also signed with Deb McCain, adding to the agency’s roster of personalities that includes designer and HGTV star Sarah Richardson.

Another recent client gain is songstress Eleanor McCain (no relation), who is working on a project for Canada’s 150th birthday next year in which beloved Canadian songs will be covered through new orchestral arrangements.

The agency is also AOR for Canada’s 100 Best, a magazine that ranks Canada’s 100 best restaurants that is now being sold on newsstands and was distributed by controlled circulation in The Toronto Star.

In addition, Deb McCain is working with Montreal-based PR agency Nata PR on Italian shoe brand Jog Dog and Spray Net, a Canadian exterior painting franchise company that recently won a deal on CBC’s Dragons’ Den.

The partnership with Nata, which was reached late last year, allows Deb McCain to offer bilingual services.

“We had snuck by for some time mostly just providing English language services to English language media,” McCain says. The arrangement started out with sub-contracting and has grown to approaching clients together.

Nata president Natalie Bibeau and McCain “both felt as independent business owners that building out some capabilities in the other market would only add strength and viability to our individual agencies,” McCain says.
