The National Advertising Awards has named its judging chairs for 2012.

Israel Diaz, executive vice-president and chief creative officer at Y&R in Toronto, has been named lead chair of judging, while M2 Universal managing director Kris McVeigh will chair the media judging.

“I’m excited and truly honoured to be chairing the 2012 National Advertising Awards,” said Diaz. “I look forward to working with top industry creative leaders to select the best ideas created by our country’s brightest minds.”

Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, the NAA’s are the country’s only brief-based awards competition. Winners are rewarded with a trip to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. To date, the annual competition has sent 87 creative and media professionals to the event – one of the most prestigious industry events in the world.

Briefs for this year’s competition go live March 5, with the submission deadline for creative April 2 and media submissions April 9.

The NAA awards gala will take place May 9.
