Strategic Objectives has won PR duties for Digifest, a digital cultural festival hosted by Toronto’s George Brown College. The festival takes place May 8 to 10 at Corus Entertainment on Toronto’s waterfront.
The PR firm will work with Digifest to spread the word about this year’s festival, which seeks to answer the question: how will we create our future cities? Speakers include Lugano, Switzerland-based Massimo Banzi, founder of Arduino, an open-source microcontroller board for interactive projects; Netherlands-based Daan Roosegaarde, a social designer and expert in the integration of technology and urban settings; and more.
“Digifest has top speakers from around the world: these are people who are actually changing the world with their amazing developments,” said Deborah Weinstein, president of Strategic Objectives, in an interview with Marketing. “[The festival] is for those people who really want to be at the cutting-edge of what’s going on in the digital world.”
Digifest debuted in 2002, but Weinstein said there hasn’t been huge awareness about the event. “Our job is to spread the good word and go out to very different target audiences,” she said, adding that includes consumers, marketing professionals, urban developers and healthcare and science professionals.
In addition to the speakers at this year’s festival, Digifest will hold student exhibitions, the “It’s a start” pitch competition, and public-accessible workshops on 3D printing, robotics and wearable technology.
