Do you have what it takes to win Marketing Award gold?

Last year's big winners set the bar high. Think your work is up to the challenge?

With the deadline to enter the 2015 Marketing Awards fast approaching, it’s time to ask yourself – do you have what it takes to win the coveted gold M?

The bar was set high in 2014, with a number of agencies winning multiple gold medals for client work that our expert jury found outstanding. Last year also marked the first time in the awards’ history that Marketing created an Agency Top Five ranking for medal winners. Every gold Marketing Award earned five points for an agency, silver awards counted for three points, and bronze awards earned one point each.

5. Rethink – 2 Gold, 4 Silver, 4 Bronze (26 Points)

For its work with Molson, Rethink managed to take home the Best of Show prize at the 2014 Marketing Awards. The agency’s inventive Passport Beer Fridge made appearances in Brussels, London and eight other cities, and attracted crowds of Europeans eager to find a Canadian who could open the fridge with their passport and provide a round of beers.

4. Grey – 6 Gold, 3 Bronze (33 Points)

A powerful submission from Grey in 2014 was the agency’s campaign for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Their impressive creative output included a series of ads featuring a pair of children, one holding an innocent-yet-banned object, and the other with a gun that is available for purchase in the U.S. The agency wanted its ads to ask a simple question – does this make sense?

3. DDB – 5 Gold, 4 Silver, 5 Bronze (42 Points)

DDB’s hilarious creative for K-Y’s “Warm Up to Love” campaign earned the agency three gold and one bronze award (while their work for other clients helped them rack up the accolades).

2. BBDO – 5 Gold, 6 Silver, 1 Bronze (44 Points)

One of BBDO’s most recognized campaigns at the awards gala was its amusing series of “Social Smoking” ads for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. As the video below shows, calling yourself a social smoker can be as misguided as thinking of yourself as a “social farter.”

1. LG2 – 5 Gold, 9 Silver, 11 Bronze (63 Points)

The most awarded agency at the 2014 Marketing Awards was the Montreal-based LG2, a team that managed to crank out lauded creative campaigns in nearly two dozen categories. One of its most powerful efforts was a road safety campaign for the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). In one stunt, the agency projected 3D “ghosts” — each one associated with a different dangerous driving habit — onto bathroom mirrors in several Québec colleges.

Think you’ve got what it takes? The deadline to enter the 2015 Marketing Awards has been extended until Friday, March 13th at 5:00pm EST. Click here for categories, submission details and requirements.
