After four years with the agency, leading it alongside CEO and chief creative officer Judy John, Caruso’s departure was announced to staff Thursday at an all-employee meeting.

The agency announced two internal promotions to offset the gap left by Caruso’s departure. Brent Nelsen, the Toronto agency’s chief strategy officer, will also become an executive vice-president, while general manager David Kennedy adds COO and EVP titles to his business cards.

“I’ve worked closely with both of them for a long time and we share a common philosophy,” said John, in a statement. “They’ve been a huge part of our success and shaping the culture of this agency. I’m excited about our new leadership structure and look forward to doing more inspiring, business-building and award-winning work that our clients have come to expect from us.”

Caruso was not immediately available for comment.
