Egg Farmers of Canada is getting the conversation about that other staple people will be cracking open this holiday season: eggs.

On Dec. 18, the Ottawa-based organization will host its #EggcellentEggs holiday Twitter chat. The discussion (@eggsoeufs) will be moderated by Canadian mom bloggers Lena Almeida (@Listen2Lena), Tenille Lafontaine (@FeistyFrugal) and Cheryl Kirkness (@MomsandMunchkin). The chat will cover holiday hosting and recipes.

This is the third Twitter chat for Egg Farmers of Canada, following its summer chat on grilling and October chat for World Egg Day. “It’s quite awesome to see how many people are taking part in these Twitter parties,” said Bonnie Cohen, Egg Farmers of Canada’s manager of marketing and nutrition. “On our first Twitter chat, #CanadianEggs was the number-one trending topic on Twitter in Canada.”

Participants in the #Eggscellent Eggs chat will have the chance to win the grand prize of a KitchenAid food processor, while seven other participants will receive a Get Cracking egg nog kit.

The campaign also includes holiday recipes for egg nog and baked goods at Eggs.ca.

“What Egg Farmers of Canada has been doing for the last little while is trying to introduce Canadians to egg farmers,” said Cohen. “So for the holiday season, we’re trying to show that egg farmers are providing people with recipes for their holiday events and parties.”
