Environics hires new VP

Alexandra Cygal offers 15 years experience both agency and client side

Alexandra Cygal has joined Environics Communications as vice-president, corporate and financial practice of its Toronto office.

Cygal’s 15-year career in public affairs includes her previous stint as vice-president of corporate affairs at Restaurant Brands International, owner of Tim Hortons and Burger King.

Before that she was manager, public affairs and senior manager, public affairs at Tim Hortons from 2010 to 2014, where she oversaw media relations, social media, environmental affairs, government affairs, issues management, sustainability and responsibility, product launches and franchisee relations.

Cygal’s prior agency experience includes time at National and Cohn & Wolfe managing campaigns for brands such as Nissan and Infiniti Canada, Amazon.ca and JD Power & Associates. She began her career in the automotive sector, working at Ford Motor Company, followed by Jaguar Land Rover Canada.

“Alexandra is an extremely well-rounded, highly experienced senior communicator, and adds further depth to the public relations counsel we bring to our clients,” said Paul Lockhard, president, Environics Communications, in a statement. “With her experience from both the client and agency perspective, she builds on the high caliber of practical strategic thinking we bring to our clients.”
