While many were partaking in festive merriment during the last weeks of 2011, the folks at Toronto branding agency Espresso were in the process of landing three new accounts.

The 25-person shop added GTA-based yoga study the Yoga Tree, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) and Cassels Brock Lawyers to its client roster. The last week of December was spent signing contracts – an exciting way to end the work year, said Jacquelyn Cyr, CEO and co-owner of Espresso.

While two of the new accounts are law-related (a complete coincidence, said Cyr), the projects are quite different.

After a competitive review, the OBA hired Espresso as its branded content AOR for its magazine Briefly Speaking. Espresso will be responsible for market research, competitive assessment and messaging.

Toronto law firm Cassels Brock Lawyers has tasked the agency with developing a recruiting campaign, which is relatively new territory for the agency, said Cyr. During the pitch process, Cyr said the agency spent a lot of time researching employer branding recruiting concepts. The campaign will likely launch late summer, she said.

For the Yoga Tree, Espresso will assist with market research, oversee marketing and communications strategies and event planning.

Cyr said the agency would add new members to its Toronto office, and is now looking to hire both a project manager and account director, with more positions to come. (Job descriptions can be found on the agency’s website).

Espresso’s other clients include Samsung, Benefit Cosmetics, Carlsberg, the City of Toronto, and The White Ribbon Campaign.
