Toronto-based Faulhaber Communications has added three new clients to its roster.

The independent firm was named PR agency of record for German fashion brand Gerry Weber, after a competitive review. Over the next few months, the company is opening its first retail locations in Canada, starting with the Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto.

Christine Faulhaber, CEO and president of her eponymous agency, said Gerry Weber is an accessible fashion brand targeted at women 35-plus. “A lot of brands are aiming at 20-somethings,” she said.  “But the fit, style and cut [of Gerry Weber] is definitely for the 30-something… There’s not a lot of brands on the market catering to this demographic.”

Faulhaber Communications will manage the initial launch event and ongoing media relations.

In another global client win, the agency was named AOR for Bugaboo, a Dutch stroller company. Faulhaber Communications worked on a cross-country media tour with Bugaboo last year.

“They’d never retained a Canadian agency for communications, but because we had such a successful test period with them… we were able to talk to them about the value of having on-going PR.”

Faulhaber Communications will launch new Bugaboo products and plan events for the brand throughout 2015.

Closer to home, Toronto-based Beck Taxi has hired Faulhaber Communications to launch a new digital dispatch system and mobile app. “The reality is, they’re technology experts—it’s not just a taxi company,” said Faulhaber.

Faulhaber said the agency has been focusing on acquiring more global brands. The agency’s experience with international brands includes the launch of Essence Cosmetics, Ted Baker and Thomas Sabo in Canada. “It’s now well within our wheelhouse of understanding the nuances of these international brands and what the Canadian touch looks like,” said Faulhaber.

That said, “We do like to keep our feet entrenched in our soil. It keeps us current.”
