It turns out youth isn’t always wasted on the young

These young people have harnessed their enviable energy, optimism and intelligence to very impressive effect. These are the entrepreneurs, the strategists and creatives, the brand builders, the planners and the doers who are shaking things up and turning heads. These are the young men and women destined to lead the industry for years to come. And they’ve done it before turning 30.

The process began with a call for entries in June. Marketing asked for submissions from all corners of the industry, seeking individuals working in Canada or with clear and deep connections to the Canadian industry. The only inviolable requirement was that they were born on or after Aug. 28, 1983.

More than 330 entries were received and each was reviewed by the editorial team to come up with a long list of approximately 80 contenders for the second round of judging.

All of these finalists were asked to submit an expanded submission form that provided greater detail of their achievements.

These forms were thoroughly studied by the editorial team, discussed, debated and, where necessary, investigated with additional research. Over a series of meetings, the list was whittled down to the final 30 profiled on the pages that follow.
