Four Maverick staffers are getting new titles on their business cards.

Magda Jarota, formerly account manager, moves up to account supervisor at the Toronto-based communications agency, and Colin Nekolaichuk, formerly account executive, becomes account manager. Micha Goddard, formerly account director, communications and creative strategist is now director of consumer marketing. Laurie Smith, formerly account supervisor, is now account supervisor, integrated business marketing and communications.

With Goddard and Smith, “the titles they had before weren’t reflective of what they do,” said Julie Rusciolelli, founder and president of Maverick, which dropped “Public Relations” from its name in June. “And it’s more than just a title change because it’s a reflection of what we’re being asked to do from a client perspective [and] a reflection of our expanded capabilities.”

Maverick also hired Christopher Trotman as account coordinator. To round out the integrated marketing team, Maverick is currently on the hunt for a digital engagement manager, a newly created role at the agency.

“We’ve been doing a lot of social media over the past four years… and we’ve all been doing it,” said Rusciolelli. “We want to have everybody still continue to actively participate in social media, but we’d like to have the one lead person we can point to when it comes to keeping up trends, analysis, measurement tools and best practices.”
