Media Profile has been named Google Inc.’s Canadian public relations agency of record.

The Toronto-based full-service firm, which also has Montreal and Vancouver offices, will offer strategic communications and tactical support to the technology behemoth.

In a release Wednesday, Google Canada’s head of global communications and public affairs Leslie Church said the company is “heading into an exciting chapter” in Canada. Church said Google was impressed by Media Profile’s “creative presentation, significant tech experience and tremendous enthusiasm.”

The review started in late 2012 and carried into this year. Six agencies made the shortlist, Church told Marketing.

Google’s most recent agency of record was Apex PR, which had held the account since June 2009.

Media Profile was founded in 1985 and has worked with other internet-related clients including Ancestry.ca and Match.com.
