Looking down over Toronto’s city lights from the CN Tower Tuesday night, representatives from the Marketing Hall of Legends (MHOL) named the finalists for the new Marketer on the Rise award — the five young stars who they think may one day tower over the industry.

The Marketer on the Rise nominees were selected from Marketing‘s 2013 30 Under Thirty list by MHOL’s 19-member jury of industry veterans.

The nominees were selected as “rising stars who have had a significant impact on the marketing industry and are on track to becoming true leaders in their profession,” according to MHOL.

The finalists are:

Brian Wong, CEO of Kiip
Derek Blais, senior art director at BBDO Toronto
• Pascal Dessureault, manager of corporate and public affairs at TD Bank Group
Sarena Ally, account manager at Facebook
Yousu Afridi, account manager at Taxi 2

The overall winner will be chosen by online voting – which closes at midnight on Jan. 16, 2014 – and announced at the Marketing Hall of Legends gala on Jan. 31.

“It’s very important for us to recognize the up-and-coming marketers that are already making an impact,” said Tania Stadnik, the chair of MHOL, in a statement. “While the Legends have shaped today’s industry, these Marketer on the Rise nominees are future leaders that will contribute to tomorrow’s industry landscape.”
