Harbinger’s 25 ways of giving back on its 25th

Agency celebrates milestone anniversary by helping women’s organizations

Harbinger is marking its 25th anniversary by donating 25 hours of consulting to 25 not-for-profit women’s organizations.

“We were thinking, ‘what should we do to celebrate, we could have a party… but we wanted to do something more lasting,” said Jeff Weiss, president of Toronto-based Harbinger. “It’s about giving back, and with our focus on purpose-driven brands and marketing to women, we thought what better way to celebrate than to support organizations that are aligned with that.”

The agency is reaching out to organizations that focus on everything from business and health to sports and the arts to identity those that need help. The only criteria are that organizations not have political or religious affiliations and support women in an inclusive and positive way. Interested organizations can also visit HarbingerIdeas.com to request support.

Harbinger staff will dedicate 25 hours to each organization throughout 2015. The agency expects to provide a range of services, including influencer marketing, brand strategy, graphic design, event management and media training.

“Our employees love to work on pro bono business — sometimes they get to do things they don’t normally get to do,” said Weiss. “Plus, it’s good for them to get involved… We’re hoping that some of them find organizations that they connect with and that they’ll go above and beyond and continue to work with.”

Harbinger was founded in 1989 by Marilyn Short and now has more than 40 employees.
