Steve Harmer has been appointed managing director at Wunderman Toronto. He remains at the helm of the digital team at affiliated agency Blast Radius, the Toronto shop he rejoined last July as general manager after a three-year hiatus.

Nancy Melcher had previously held this post.

He will work with regional and global clients such as Kraft, and Microsoft with support from Blast Radius, Wunderman and KBM Group resources (all of which are part of the Young & Rubicam Group, an operating unit of WPP).

Wunderman underwent a global restructuring two months ago that saw the digital and CRM agency network split its agencies into four global divisions: consumer engagement, world health, data and insights and brand experience.

The new role was announced Thursday. Harmer will report to Wunderman North America president Kass Sells. Sells commended Harmer’s strong leadership skills and creative capabilities in a release, noting that his experience in digital, branded content, data and consumer engagement make him “the right person for this intra-agency offering.”

When he came back to the industry after taking three years off to focus on his family and hobbies, Harmer told Marketing that Blast Radius was moving towards being “more integrated with our network partners, be it Wunderman or Y&R.”
