The Institute of Communication Agencies (ICA) announced Thursday that Sir John Hegarty will headline its 2013 FutureFlash conference.

Hegarty, worldwide creative director of Bartle Bogle Hegarty and author of Hegarty on Advertising, will provide a keynote presentation for the conference, held on May 15 and 16 in Toronto. Hegarty is an industry heavyweight who worked alongside Charles Saatchi at Saatchi & Saatchi before founding his own agency in 1982, which now has six offices and works for brands such as Axe and The Guardian.

He’s best known for his work with Audi and Levi’s (for which he memorably created an ad featuring a young Brad Pitt) and creating Flat Eric, a yellow puppet character that was one of the first viral phenomenons.

Tumblr’s marketing and revenue consultant, Rick Webb will also speak at the conference, as will Paul Kemp-Robertson, co-founder of the U.K.’s Contagious magazine and app.
