Hill+Knowlton appoints VP, group leader of procurement

Also, firm's Victoria office adds a former news anchor to its team

Craig Rowsell has been appointed vice-president and group leader of procurement and trade at Hill+Knowlton Strategies Canada.

Rowsell will lead H+K’s procurement services, which is based in Ottawa. He has been a senior associate in the firm’s procurement services department for the last three years.

“We are fortunate to have Craig step into this role and lead our talented team, as they continue to harness the right communication support to engage the Crown, industry and public-at-large,” said Jackie King, senior vice-president and general manager of H+K Ottawa, in a statement.

Rowsell started his public-service career at Public Works and Government Services and has more than 33 years of experience in public-sector major-capital acquisition and industrial policy. He was the lead executive responsible for the defence and aerospace sectors at the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Also at H+K, former news anchor Jim Beatty is joining the firm’s Victoria office as an account director within the integrated communications and public affairs team.

Beatty has more than 20 years experience working in B.C. media. He was an anchor at CHEK News in Victoria and previously CTV Victoria’s bureau chief. Before broadcasting, Beatty was a newspaper reporter in Ontario and B.C., eventually becoming the legislature bureau chief for the Vancouver Sun.

“Jim brings a keen understanding of public affairs and senior communications counsel to our clients across several sectors,” Joy Jennissen, general manager of H+K B.C. said in a statement.
