As a marketing exec arrived at High Road’s annual holiday party on Dec. 6, he asked his driver to wait, “just in case.” The only sign he had arrived at the correct location was a pair of black-clad security guards outside the doors of an East Toronto studio space. After exchanging a pre-arranged password with the guards, he entered a 1920s-styled speakeasy, complete with flapper girls and flair bartenders tossing bottles of vodka in the air. It was definitely the right place. Outside, the town car drove away.
