Sometimes you’ve gotta fight for your right to movies.

Or, more specifically, the right to watch movies on TV in their entirety, uncut and without commercials. And that message is at the core of a new multiplatform campaign running in Ontario for Hollywood Suite, a collection of four HD movie channels.

Launched Monday, the campaign – which has TV, radio, outdoor, print and digital components – prompts users to win back their “movie rights.” Produced by Wunderkind, the campaign features people impersonating famous actors, from Christopher Walken to Al Pacino. (The Woody Allen impersonation is especially good, with spot on intonation and the line “You shouldn’t have some guy yelling about a blender while you’re trying to watch a movie.”)

The campaign encourages people to contact their TV service provider to subscribe to Hollywood Suite’s package of channels, which – as the ads promote – cost “a few bucks a month.” (It retails for $6 or less.)

The campaign was launched now as a free preview of Hollywood Suite comes to an end on March 31 on Rogers and Cogeco cable systems. Hollywood Suite president David Kines said in a release that the company wanted to ensure potential customers know the movie channels are commercial-free and come at a low monthly price.

The media buy for the campaign was handled by twenty6two.

Launched in November 2011 across Canada, Hollywood Suite owns and operates MGM Channel, Sony Movie Channel, WarnerFilms and AXN Movies. It showcases films from the ’60s through ’00s.

Available in more than three million homes across Canada, Hollywood Suite is carried on service providers including Bell Fibe TV, Cogeco Cable, MTS, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus.
