Hyper Island Playground returns to Toronto

The school and agency are presenting an introduction to Hyper Island's methodology

Hyper Island is headed back to Toronto.

On December 16, the school is hosting one of its introductory “Playground” sessions at the Centre for Social Innovation with help from its Toronto agency partner, Cheil Canada.

Different from its “Master Classes,” which have been described as a “digital Harvard” for senior marketers, the Playground session will be a two to three hour intro to the “Hyper Island Way,” the program’s philosophy on how technology is changing the world, business and advertising.

Earlier this year, Hyper Island held a similar Playground session in Vancouver. The  introductory Playground events serve as an entry point to Hyper Island’s sought-after Master Class, a three-day intensive learning session on digital culture and advertising aimed at c-suite executives, marketing VPs, PR practitioners and copywriters.

Unlike the invite-only Playground session in Vancouver, the Toronto event will be open attendance, according to Cheil Canada president Matt Cammaert.

Cammaert said the Playground event is aimed at senior marketers and agency staffers, working in creative, planning and account services. Attendees, he said, will be introduced to Hyper Island’s methodology, which “involves collaboration and experience based learning to empower individuals and organizations to seize the opportunities created by the digital and technological evolution.”

Master Classes will follow in more than one Canadian location, according to Cammaert. He said to expect further announcements from the agency’s strategic partnership with Hyper Island in 2015.
