Ian Westworth joins Grey Toronto

Former JWT strategic planning director joins new executive leadership team

Ian Westworth has joined Grey Toronto as its vice-president of planning and innovation, the latest in a series of executive-level changes at the agency.

Westworth arrived from J. Walter Thompson, where he had been strategic planning director since 2015. His nearly 20 years of experience have seen him work on clients such as Labatt Breweries, Diageo, Honda, Nintendo and Walmart, among others.

“Ian’s depth and breadth of experience will ensure we bring clients strategies that are simple, focused and meaningful to all those the brand aims to connect with,” said Darlene Remlinger, Grey Toronto’s president, in a release. “Ian knows how to dig deep into client research and has a great network of people to engage to refine great insights. We’re thrilled to have him aboard.”

It has been a year of change at Grey, which saw the president’s title shift to Darlene Remlinger after Stephanie Nerlich announced her departure in March. And just over a month ago, chief creative officer Patrick Scissons departed for KBS to be followed by Joel Arbez and James Ansley as co-executive creative directors.

Andrew Carty previously held the role into which Westworth steps. He departed in May has has since co-founded an agency – Send + Receive.
