Global research firm Ipsos has selected Jim Meyer for the newly created role of chief marketing officer for North America.
Meyer, who is based in New York and is the former CEO of Ipsos ASI in North America, will be responsible for creating marketing strategies that “accelerate the transformation of Ipsos within the U.S. and Canada,” according to the company.
“This new position is the latest in a series of management appointments designed to improve our offering and our position in the market,” said Pierre Le Manh, CEO of Ipsos North America, in a statement. “A strong strategic marketing function will be crucial to propelling us forward as game changers in the research industry, and Jim brings the perspective and experience that we need to lead that function.”
Meyer spent the first 20 years of his career as a New York advertising executive, including stints at M&C Saatchi, DMB&B and J. Walter Thompson. He then spent five years as a marketing strategy consultant and six years as the founding CEO of Mindset Media, an ad technology firm now owned by Google. Prior to joining Ipsos two years ago, he was a general manager at research firm TNS.
In June, Ipsos announced Rob Myers, former managing director of Ipsos Marketing in the U.K., will replace Gary Bennewies as country manager in Canada. Bennewies is relocating to Paris to serve as Ipsos’ global chief talent officer.
Earlier this month, Ipsos hired Peter Minnium as president of Ipsos Connect in the U.S. Launched in February, Ipsos Connect was formed through the amalgamation of Ipsos’ ASI and MediaCT units, and houses the company’s communication, advertising and media business. Prior to joining Ipsos, Minnium was head of digital brand initiatives at New York-based Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).
