Jane Murray can’t say no to Neary, moves to TBWA

CD to partner with Mark Mason

Award-winning creative director Jane Murray is joining TBWA\Toronto.

Murray begins at her new agency on Feb. 1, arriving from Sid Lee’s Toronto office where she’s been a freelance CD since August 2011.

In an e-mail to Marketing, Murray said she sees TBWA’s Toronto office as “an environment where smart people can make great things happen. There’s a lot of bright minds onboard that ship. Plus, my ultimate job has always been to both write and to creative direct, and TBWA offered me that.”

Murray is set to partner with fellow creative director Mark Mason, with both reporting to chief creative officer Jack Neary.

“The idea of teaming up with Mark Mason, who is so well respected in the industry – and from all my intelligence recon reports, is also a very nice guy – was very appealing.”

The agency and Mason’s reputations aside, Murray had a third compelling reason to move: “It’s very hard to say no to Jack Neary. Like all great ad people, he is a master at the subtle art of persuasion.”

For his part, Neary said in a release that he believed the CD duo would “ form one of the most potent teams in Canada. Their love of the craft as well as their mentoring skills will serve our clients and staff well as we push to move our brand to a higher level.”

Prior to Sid Lee, Murray worked at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Ogilvy and Taxi. She has contributed to campaigns for Winners, Molson, WestJet, Shreddies and Telus, among others.

Murray was a Cannes Lions Radio judge in 2010, and has won trophies at the Marketing Awards, Advertising & Design Club of Canada awards, Clios and D&AD competitions.
