Jeff Dack has joined Lowe Roche in Toronto as the office’s first ever chief strategy officer.
Earlier this month, the agency veteran took over the position after a stint on the client side as director of marketing at Jamieson Laboratories. As chief strategy officer, he’ll have oversight of Lowe Roche’s entire stable of clients.
Monica Ruffo, CEO of Lowe Roche, said she’d been looking for the right chief strategy officer for years, leaning on senior planners until she could find the perfect fit.
“[Dack] has got a great depth of experience. He’s worked both agency and client side, and on the agency side he’s worked as a creative and also a strategist. He has a really interesting 360 view of what we do.” Ruffo said.
Ruffo and Dack first worked together at Cossette ten years ago, where Dack was a copywriter and Ruffo was president of Cossette Nucleus (then the strategic planning division of Cossette). It was working under Ruffo that Dack first made the jump from creative to strategy. The two kept in touch over the years and Ruffo connected with him last year about the possibility of joinging Lowe Roche.
The agency then offered Dack its senior strategy position after he did some freelance work for the agency earlier this winter and found the agency culture was a fit.
The selection comes as Lowe Roche beefs up the strategy portion of its practice. According to Ruffo, the agency has won a considerable amount of effectiveness and strategy business in the past year. Dack has been tasked with continuing to grow that business.
She said his experience at Jamieson, a vitamin and supplement company, also syncs up with another growth area for Lowe Roche — health and wellness.
