John Hall has been made senior vice-president and director of media innovation – a newly created position – at MacLaren McCann Vancouver.

Hall recently stepped down as SVP of planning at Dare. He had spent the last 15 years in a variety of positions with the agency and its affiliate, Cossette (both part of the Vision 7 network).

As director of media innovation, Hall said he will work on new businesses pitches as well as with existing clients on their media and communication strategies.

“The way we connect with customers is changing radically,” said Hall. “My job is to try and understand how people are making their decisions, the discussions that are going on, how they are talking to friends and family to gather information and try and develop a way to align customer expectations and the decision making that goes into making a purchase with the right communications.”

Hall’s move is the most recent in a series of senior-level departures from Dare that includes the creative team of Rob Sweetman and Bryan Collins in January, as well as SVP and managing partner Sandy Fleischer, who went to join former Dare staffers Tara Steinberg, Jackson Murphy and Graham MacInnes at Pound and Grain Digital last October. Fleischer and Hall have yet to be replaced at Dare.

MacLaren McCann has a staff count of 25 and the agency’s clients include General Motors, Cathay Pacific Airways, British Columbia Lottery Corporation and Wendy’s.
