Komunik, a Montreal interactive and direct marketing firm, has acquired Datamark Systems Group in a deal worth about $30 million, including stock, cash and an agreement to assume Datamark debt.

Komunik provides relationship marketers with “end-to-end solutions,” while Datamark produces “document management solutions” ranging from commercial printing of forms and labels, to warehousing and distribution.

“This transaction is an important milestone in our roadmap to becoming a leading solution provider in the relationship marketing arena,” Komunik president and CEO Alain Paquin said in a statement.

This acquisition is subject to the approval of Datamark shareholders and the courts. Should the deal be approved, privately-held Komunik would go public.

Komunik clients include Reader’s Digest, IKEA, Suzuki, ING Direct, Air France, Rona, L’Oréal, Fido and Manulife Financial.
