LG2 names three presidents

Mireille Côté, Mathieu Roy and Jeremy Gayton's new titles cement next-gen leadership

The Quebec-born creative agency LG2 has named three of its senior executives as presidents of their respective offices, a step the company says formalizes the handing over of leadership responsibility to its next generation of leaders.

Mireille Côté, Mathieu Roy and Jeremy Gayton are now presidents of the Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto offices, respectively. All three were already partners in the 230-person independently owned agency, but held vice-president or managing director titles.

Previously, the only president in the company was Sylvain Labarre, who co-founded the agency with Paul Gauthier and Gilles Chouinard 25 years ago. Labarre is giving up that title, but remains chairman of the board of directors.

“Today is an important and exciting step for the agency that we founded 25 years ago,” said Labarre, in a release. “We couldn’t be more delighted to have three leaders who perfectly embody LG2’s DNA and in whom we have complete confidence. “It’s an honour for us to step into a mentorship role for this close-knit executive team, which has continually proven itself in the past few years,” he continued.

The message out of the agency about the changing of the guard is one of stability and consistency. According to Gayton, the transition has been happening “slowly and gradually” over time. “This is just the final chapter. In terms of priorities moving forward, it will continue to be on our independence, our culture and creative product.”

LG2 has been one of the most visible and awarded agencies in Canada over the past few years, with strong showings in Cannes, being named to The List by Marketing magazine, and recently named Canadian Agency of the Year by the Clios award program.
