LG2 was the big winner at the radio advertising industry’s 47th annual Crystal Awards, winning both Best of Show and a gold in the Radio Single category for its “Auction” ad for client Sears Optical.
Rethink and Juniper Park led all agencies in the contest with one gold and two bronze awards apiece.
Rethink earned a gold in the Agency Campaign category for its “By the Numbers” “Ze Name” and “Teutonic Taunting” spots for longtime client Playland, and also picked up a pair of bronze awards – one in the Agency Campaign category for its “Sneeze,” “Right Handed” and “When Giant Nerds Roam the Earth” spots for Science World, and another in the Agency Single category for its “Slogan” ad for Mr. Lube.
Juniper Park earned a gold in the Performance category for its “Fashion Kitty” spot for New York Fries, along with a bronze award in the same category for its “Unicorn” spot for the same client. The “Fashion Kitty” spot also won a bronze in the copywriting category.
Gold in the latter category went to Karo Group for its “Digital Marketing” spot for client Strathmore Rodeo.
Multiple radio groups were also among the gold winners:
• Corus Radio Toronto with a pair of golds in the Radio Promotion Campaign and Radio Promotion Single categories
• Island Radio in the Radio: Small Market category for its “Rappin’ Rat Zapper” spot for client South Country Feed and Supply
• Bell Media in the Public Service Announcement category for its “Just Seconds” ad for the Canadian Red Cross
• Astral Radio Calgary in the Radio Campaign category for its “Blammo,” “Nuts” and “Golf Lessons” spots in support of client Glassmasters
• Rogers Radio Winnipeg in the Radio Single category for its “Michelangelo” ad in support of Maaco
• Astral Radio Vancouver in the Creative Use of Sound/Music category for its “Virgin 95.3 Remembrance Day” spot for Virgin Radio Vancouver
The awards were held in Toronto on March 22.
