LG2 Toronto makes Megan Siegel its first strategy hire

The 30 Under 30 alum will oversee community management, content creation

Megan Siegel has joined LG2 as a social content strategist and manager.

Siegel, who was named one of Marketing‘s Top 30 Under 30 in 2012, is the first strategy hire LG2 has made for its Toronto office since it opened in June 2014. She joins a team of 14 strategists across the agency’s three offices and will oversee the work of its community managers and content creators.

Prior to joining LG2, Siegel was a social content strategist at BBDO/Promixity Canada, working on accounts such as Visa Canada and Mercedes Canada. She was also a content and community strategist at Top Drawer creative and worked in journalism as a web producer and editor at Canadian Living and Cottage Life.

At LG2, Siegel will act was a bridge between analytics, creative and community management, and share insights pulled from social with the creative team to inform client work.

Siegel told Marketing she’s had her eye on the agency since it opened in Toronto. “I know they’re hiring some great people and am looking forward to working with such bright individuals and helping to build something from the ground up,” she said.

“LG2 is obviously much smaller in Toronto than BBDO/Proximity, so it will be an opportunity to provide a bit more leadership across departments,” she added.

Siegel is the ninth hire at LG2’s Toronto office, which collaborates with its offices in Montreal and Quebec City on Toronto clients. Alexis Robin, partner and director of digital, said Siegel was chosen not just for her experience in social media, but for also her ability to see how it fits into the bigger picture.

“Megan’s passion for transformational ideas is evident. What also struck us is her global vision of social as a much larger whole,” he said. “While Megan specializes in social, we cast people who are passionate about creativity in all its forms, and want to contribute to an overall outstanding creative product.

“Last but not least, culture and chemistry are key in a startup sized office. We knew from the onset Megan would fit right in.”

Nominations for the 2015 Top 30 Under 30 close June 26. For more information on this year’s list, visit Marketing‘s 30 Under 30 site.
