We started the week by launching our search for Agency of the Year, now we’re opening up the floor to suggestions for the top marketing and media companies of 2009.

Nomination forms for Marketer of the Year and Media Player of the Year are ready for download (see below). The deadline for both is Aug. 28.

“We know the context is very different this year, particularly for the media companies,” said Matt Nicholls, editor of Marketing. “In the past, growth was a key factor when it came time to select the year’s best, but growth was literally impossible for many companies over the past several months.

“And so we expect to hear examples of companies taking bold steps and pioneering forward-thinking changes that will enable their companies to thrive as the recession relents. For us, that will be part of the definition of success in 2009.”

Combining the nominations submitted by Aug. 28 with our own research, Marketing’s editorial team will come up with a long list of contenders for each honour.

A group of industry leaders will then be called in to consult with Marketing to determine the year’s top 10 in each category.

The top 10 Marketers and Media Players will be profiled in the Nov. 23 issue of the magazine, while the top 10 agencies will be revealed in the Nov. 9 issue.

From those lists, one ultimate Marketer of the Year, Agency of the Year and Media Player of the Year will be profiled in depth in the Dec. 14 year-end issue of Marketing.
