Mac Macdonald is the latest to tender his resignation at Grey Advertising, after less than a year as vice-president and managing director of the Vancouver-based shop.

Macdonald’s imminent departure follows that of Katie Nugent and Jason Rolstone, who joined Grey last summer as account directors. Nugent, who came from BBDO Toronto, was promoted to director, advertising in January.

Another account supervisor, Mike Leslie, also recently left to join Taxi Vancouver, while former director of public relations Gwen Hardyand her sidekick Simone Abt left to form their own shop (Elettra Communications) earlier this year.

The revolving door at the West Hastings St. office has also claimed a senior writer, and in February, creative director Craig Redmond was given his marching orders. Redmond told Marketing at the time that there were “compatibility issues” with Macdonald.

Macdonald was away this week and unavailable for comment, but Tim Johnson, president and CEO at Grey, doesn’t believe Macdonald is leaving for another job. “He’s a tremendous talent and he really has made things better for us, but now he wants to take some time and figure out where those talents should take him,” he says, adding they are recruiting for his position.

Johnson says Nugent plans to move back to Toronto.
