Mackie Biernacki to help launch online clothing shop

Hong Kong-based Retykle specializes in gently used kids clothes

Mackie Biernacki has won the branding and advertising assignment for Hong Kong-based online shop Retykle. The agency is tasked with developing strategy, brand identity, collateral and digital advertising for the soon-to-launched brand.

Retykle (a play on tyke and recycle) is an online retailer that connects parents looking to purchase quality children’s clothing with those looking to sell their used kid’s clothing. The shop is set to launch Dec 6.

Retykle CEO and founder Sarah Garner, a former buyer for Holt Renfrew and Lane Crawford, worked with agency founders Steph Mackie and Mark Biernacki before moving to Hong Kong seven years ago.

The children’s clothing market is dramatically different in Hong Kong than in Canada, said Mackie, with most parents opting to outfit their kids in high-end designer labels like Chanel and Prada.

Though it primarily counts Canadian brands among its clients, Mackie Biernacki also produces work forDadart, a French art curation business that puts together some of the world’s largest art shows, and Periclase, a Zurich-based financial firm.

“While we avoid awkward conference calls, both FaceTime and Skype really help us to collaborate in a personal way so as to understand the needs and nuances of an assignment, no matter where it originates from,” said Biernacki in a release.
