Canada’s most important industry awards show is just over one week away.

The 2009 Marketing Awards at Toronto’s Varsity Cinemas promises to be a show-stopping experience. All of the winning work will be shown in digital, widescreen glory thanks to presenting sponsor Cineplex Media.

Attendees will also enjoy complimentary refreshments thanks to sponsors Stella Artois, Jackson Triggs, Pizza Pizza, Maple Leaf Foods, Hershey’s, Mars, and Zast Foods.

This year’s awards will also see the introduction of new categories for cinema, “other broadcast” and the new Excellence in Brand Creativity.

The Brand Creativity award was introduced to recognize a brand that have demonstrated a desire to move beyond the status quo.

“There’s a lingering feeling out there that awards shows and the creative recognition it brings are only for agencies,” said Patrick Scissons, co-chair of this year’s jury alongside Frédéric Girard. “We created this category because we felt it was important to recognize that creative success belongs just as much to clients, especially given the current economic climate. Standing out and being different has never been more important.”

The award will go to the client who introduced a “breakthrough idea that lives outside of the traditional landscape” of advertising, or demonstrated “strong creativity through a brand’s entire body of work from the past year” across all media.

Tickets—which are more than $100 cheaper than last year’s—can be purchased at themarketingawards.ca. For further event or ticket information please contact Hayley Humenick 416-764-1575 or hayley.humenick@marketingmag.rogers.com.
